Has anyone of you shot the TarantulaNebula already - yes, sure. The reason, I am asking is, that after having downloaded the files from Telescope.Live, taken with a CDK24, during processing, I saw in the middle of the nebula on all subs a "tiny" square. It is visible, but a bit faint - I have attached a screenshot at very high magnification to show it to you - around 10 o´clock left from the central bright star.

It is not a processing artefact, it is visible already on all downloaded raw files....

Have you seen this on your subs as well? I posted a related question on FB´s Telescope.Live site, but I got likings only and no comments or explanantions...

Maybe you can explain it?

Thanks,

It's like a reflection of the 3 stars at 9 o'clock

My guess is a cloaking device to hide an interstellar gambling resort

based on the first image, it appears to be created by overlapping emission lanes, but the 2nd one not so much.

Just a chance alignment of tendrils of the nebula. Nothing more. And processing. Mine version hasn't got it.

Interesting, the square is already visible on the subs provided by Telescope.Live - the subs are precalibrated..... hmm, I shall ask for the non-precalibrated subs....

To my untrained eye it is simply a consequence of a digital image. Pixels are square, so some things in certain positions will look more or less square. Especially at high magnification.

It will certainly depend on the telescope used, pixel size of the camera, particular conditions of the night when the image was taken, etc.

Hello Georg
It is a feature of the nebula, it is a kind of dark structure, I wondered about it a couple of months ago.
You can have a look here: https://www.astrobin.com/full/1fj4rx/B/?mod=&real=
