I bought a used RASA, and there appears to be some kind of attachment to the front that I cannot connect to(see images). My understanding is that you use the camera adapter plate and a retaining ring to screw on the front. The scope appears to have some other kind of attachment that does not allow that. Does anyone recognize this plate on the front ? I'm not sure if it is screwed on like the Celestron ring and adapter plate or if the grub screws must be removed to take the tapered ring off. I contacted the seller, and he previously used and Octopi tilt adjuster on the scope, but he says he has all the parts and doesn't know what this is as he hasn't used the scope in a while.
Any ideas? I tried gently unscrewing it, but it causes the entire complex to rotate(ie, the part on the inside of the corrector plate) and from what I understand, you aren't supposed to screw anything on too tight.
The first images shows the tapered ring that looks like it was made for a collar and grub screws( Note is has small hex screws on the front and sides). The next two show the Celestron adapter plate and retaining ring that is supposed to screw onto the front, and the third and fourth show the plate and ring together and how it is the same diameter as the strange tapered ring. The last image shows the front of the tapered ring.
I don't know how it is attached, by the hex screws or screw on, so I don't want to try anything aggressive until I understand what it is and how it attaches.
Thank you
Scott
