I can't speak for DSLR, but ASI294MC Pro and ASI533MC Pro, is was told to set the flats in the range of 28,000 - 32,000 ADU (average) histogram value. The ASIAIR Plus tends to run at 36K-40K ADU when "autoexposure" is selected for flats. I find setting histogram average around 30K ADU is easy and works very well to properly correct the images. I use a tshirt over scope and shoot the evening sky or a whiteboard to at night do my flats.

Glad you got it worked out. Sky flats are wonderful. I don't know what control software you are using but if it's NINA you can dither if you're not guiding. Just use the Direct Guider option.

I use ASIAIR Plus for mount and camera control. I always guide with dither every 10 exposures or so. My mount is an Astro-Physics 1200GTO. Manufactured 2011 and still guides beautifully. I mostly use a 30 year old Celestron C14, which still images extremely well. ![]() |
