Hi Sal,

I have an astigmatism in my eyes and viewing white text on charcoal or black background is murder for my eyes.  I can only read threads a little at a time because it messes with my eyes so much that I cannot look at images anymore and start seeing things imprinted on my short term vision (even when looking around the room).

If the text is black against a light color background, I have no problems whatsoever.

There are a bunch of astro sites I cant even go to, or I need to copy the text into notepad just so I can look at it.

Strange problem to have, but Astrobin threads and text with images is pretty tough for me to look at.

Wondering if it would be possible to have some alternate color palettes that the user could choose between for their login.  Ideally something with black text and light BG.    Thanks for considering!

You can change your browser theme to accommodate your requirements.

AstroBin already has a higher contrast theme, but that's because of the orange/red accent color, that can be an issue to some. Unfortunately I cannot create themes for each kind of visual impairment, but surely there are browser extensions and accessibility tools in your operating system that work universally?

Well, thats a bit dramatic sal.  Many sites offer different color options for page display. Hardly a reinvention of a theme or a slippery slope for accommodating peoples disabilities.  I accept your decision.

No worries, just providing user feedback. Ill look into andreas suggestion.

Thanks,

Hi Chris,

sorry, I didn't mean to sound dismissive. Unfortunately providing multiple themes is not as easy as clicking a button, and it would require considerable engineering effort.

While I want AstroBin to be as accessible as possible, and I do have a high-contrast theme, at the moment I don't have the resources for multiple themes for a variety of visual impairments.

I know that many sites offer a dark theme and a light theme, or a high-contrast mode like AstroBin does, but it's also true that modern browsers and operating systems provide accessibility tools to help visually impaired users.

For instance, you could try a Chrome extension to invert colors on a page, and you could use it to read the forums (as it would invert images too). It would look like this:

Hope this helps!
