You may have heard of Continuum? Two years ago, I began an artistic project to explore the many dimensions of our human relationship with the sky. To do this, I set up two twin telescopes in Morocco and Chile, giving access to the whole sky, and started to write. The medium is, for now, mostly video oriented : each episode offers a journey into what connects us with the sky, through music, imagery, narration, and English subtitles. Please note : this is a non-profit project. The corresponding images are shared here on Astrobin in full resolution, and submitted to the IOTD. Here's the last one for reference : https://www.astrobin.com/5lsiz5/ There are 60 episodes on Youtube already. You can find the most recent one here : https://youtu.be/SjqvTUpw0wk This thread is a space for conversation and connection around the ideas explored in the series. Whether you have a question, a thought to share, or simply a kind word, you’re warmly welcome here! See you soon, Laurent |

Wonderful project, and the episode I just watched was remarkable. The fact that I don’t speak French actually made it even more enjoyable because it added to the mystique of the imagery. Subscribed!

Daniel Cimbora: Thank you. I often wonder how the project feels to a non French speaker. I take good pride in hand-crafting the translation and synchronization of the subtitles, in this age of IA. |

Hi! Episode #62 is out : https://youtu.be/hseCCc5129k Here's a preview : "Earth is often depicted as being located in a quiet, uneventful suburb of our galaxy. A convenient place, not too far from the center, but also benefiting from the calm of the outskirts. As if we were looking for some kind of rationality to our existence, the Universe, like a good father, would have chosen this spiral arm to settle us. The prospectus reads “Orion's Spur, secondary arc of the Milky Way, suburban community where life is good, between the major arms of Perseus and Sagittarius”. However, if the description is accurate in space, it loses its substance in the dynamics of time: our sun and its entourage of planets have been on the move ever since they began." I hope you'll enjoy watching as much as I did producing ! Laurent |
