Great job Sal! AB has made me a much better astrophotographer. I've received a lot of help from the forums and even personal help from some generous individuals.  Please keep it up smile

One thing I like about Astrobin is that Salvatore could totally sell out, and yet he chooses not to. He could make it so that only paying members get their images featured as a higher priority on the global feed, with the option to pay even more to "super-boost" your images, like how Facebook handles corporate posts. He could fill the forums with ads disguised as posts so you constantly have to check each post to make sure it's not an ad before you read it. He could sell our personal info (which is associated with all sorts of valuable data, like what sort of gear we own) to the highest bidder.

Not to give him any ideas, I mean. I just appreciate the uncorrupted purity of Astrobin.

I want to thanks AmyWarble for this topic I'm completely agree. Salvatore has been a dedicate and respectfull owner in all aspects of the purpose of the Astrobin site and getting care not only of the community and its exigencies but also of the user interface and functionality in wich him several times ask for our opinion and suggestions.  This site is unique. As user and member neophyte in this science-art expression community I found a place of joy and inspiration with other works and learned from them a lot.
Many thanks again to Salvatore for its commitment with Astrobin and to the nice community I feel belong now.

I agree that Astrobin is amazing.  I used to have my own website (now gone) as well as a JAlbum photo site (still there but not used much) and it is clear that there is no substitute for a site done by someone who is a skilled software person as well as an astroimager.

Astrobin is so ideal for astroimages that I am often surprised when I see astrophotos still hosted on private sites. They seldom come even close to measuring up to the display and information options that Astrobin provides.

A big thanks to Salvatore for such an incredible platform. I remember some of his early posts advertising the site on CloudyNights over 10 years ago.

Perhaps others may relate, but I took a rather long break from astronomy/astrophotography(5+ years) after 2014, yet I found myself still  checking this site periodically. To see the progress in image quality and support in the community has been uplifting to say in the least. Thank you again!

That is the perfect perspective in support of how this site is administered and used by the participants.  Little else need be added to make the point clear.

Agree 100%. I used to have my own private site that I setup during the COVID. Almost no visitors. I have been on other sites, but no longer. I have left and returned to AstroBin, this time to stay.

My favourite feature is the "Download your data" option to download all your images in a zip file. I can just extract the images and search them locally when offline.

Also, it's great that AstroBin is accepting of images from users of all levels, not just users with $20,000+ telescopes. I don't have such an expensive telescope, yet my images and projects are still welcome.

@Salvatore Iovene With all of the images your site has, the ever-growing collection really constitutes a digital sky survey in its own right that would be useful for professionals. Who knows what discoveries are recorded on users images that have been unnoticed?
