I've an iOptron Skyhunter with iPolar, I am planning to get ZWO ASIAir Mini computer to control my set up but unable to get any resource saying if it is compatible with the mount or not. I've checked ZWO support website and this mount is not listed there, all I can find from CN thread that ZWO ASIAir Plus is compatible with this mount using USB cable, not Wifi. Could you please share if this is possible and how do I connect the mount with the ASIAir Mini (not Plus version).

iOptron support told me that "The SkyHunter can be controlled via USB connection using the MiniUSB (2.0) port on the mount.

The couldynights forum on this says otherwise, the users are struggling hard to use ASIAir Plus with this mount and even iOptron support is unable to confirm it if it will work and I guess no one tried ASIAir Mini on this mount, hence the confusion.

My experience with IOptron GEM45 and Skyhunter using Stellarmate, is that all newer versions of IOptron mounts works with all their drivers. That is the drivers are universal. If you see one IOpton driver in AsiAir, try that one.

Yes, you can use the ASIAir mini with the StarHunter. You can even use the ASIAir Pro with it now that the firmware has been updated. You can use either the wifi or the cable.
However, I found with my setup that there is electrical noise on the StarHunter, probably from the motors, that interferes with operation of the ASIAir. I found that by using a long cable (about 12ft in my case) and just coiling it up everything works fine. This may just be a quirk with my system, but it does all work.

Hi,

My query was about iOptron Skyhunter, by "Starhunter" if you're referring to the same Skyhunter then I guess that covers my question since I am unable to find any resources and neither can the support from iOptron can confirm it. I guess I'll buy it and check, hopefully I'll be able to find a workaround in case there are issues with WiFi or USB connectivity.

I'll update the thread once I've Air Mini and check if it works.

Thanks for your input.

It was a coincidence that I saw this post. I was given an ASIAir for Christmas, and I've been attempting to use it with my iOptron SkyHunter. The ASIAir works with the GoTo feature and taking images with my ASI183MC Pro. However, it doesn't do so well with the Guiding feature. I've attempted several times to get my ASIAir to guide my SkyHunter, but it just wouldn't do it.

@Sean Shifflette are you using ZWO guide cam for your rig? As far as I know ASI Air doesn't support any other brand cameras except ZWO, you can get in touch with ZWO/iOptron support to check if guiding will work and update it for others. You may find the following CN article helpful;

Are you using ASI Air Plus or Mini?
