Hi

with ioptron cem 120 double encoder, what kind of phd algorithms should I use for guiding?

Using the phd2 setup wizard select the option "Mount has… encoders" It will select the LowPass2 algorithm for both axis.

I get the best result with resisted switch in Dec and Hysteresis in RA. Matthias

LowPass2 is the algorithm for you for RA at least. are the encoders on both axis? if so, I'd low pass on both.

With low pass, I would DEFINITELY set your min-move to a very low number (like 0.1~0.15) and set your max duration to a lower number like 500~700.

I have encoders on both axes.
the pixel scale of the imaging telescope is 0.75 (1033mm focal lenght + asi 2600), the guide tube is a focal length of 240 mm with asi 120 mini

Hi,

I have a CEM70EC2. I got a lot of good info from the following YouTube video by Astro-Physics:
https://youtu.be/wCu8PKjDZ20?si=VPEVGHJGklDQzlAH

I have used the procedure for my CEM70EC2 and it worked well. Make sure to run the Guiding Assistant.

Alex, wouldn’t setting MinMove numbers that low cause PhD2 to over-apply corrections? I’ve found that in anything less than excellent seeing, the mount tracks better with higher MinMove numbers and gives the encoders time to adjust tracking on their own. Otherwise PhD2 is just chasing seeing and overriding the encoders.
