Hi, My name is Chris and my introduction to astronomy was when I showed an interest in the night sky and was bought a telescope as a Christmas present. This opened up a whole new world to me and I have been fascinated ever since. Over the years my eyes ain't as sharp as they once were and visual astronomy became harder to enjoy, mostly due to my own annoyance. However, along came electronically assisted astronomy and now I'm seeing old targets in a lot more detail. I still occasionally visually look at the moon and planets but I'm mostly learning more of the electrical assisted side of astronomy. |

Kevin, Welcome back into the fray. I too took a sabbatical from the hobby during college and once I had money to spend bought my first higher quality telescope in 1999. Twenty-six years later I now have a full observatory in my back yard with a bevy of equipment for astroimaging. This hobby can be enjoyable and rewarding but can come with some frustration and expense, especially when you are trying to improve image quality and capabilities. With all that said, I absolutely love the hobby and have the observatory open as often as I can in the light-polluted skies of suburban St. Louis, MO. Doug |
