Hello,

I've seen several image posts that turn the display of the stars on and off via mouse hovering over the image. Here is an example: Markarian's Chain - AstroBin

How is that done?

Thank you,

Two images, one with one without and change the mouse-over option to suit.

https://welcome.astrobin.com/features/image-revisions (see FAQ too)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ_FLgFrF9U (the youtube video shows parts of the old UI but you can find the equivalent actions in the new one)

Hope this helps!

Are you asking how it's done in Astrobin ? Or how they produce the starless image in the first place ? I'll answer both.

- You can upload another revision of your image without making it the main version. So if you have a starless image just upload it as a revision and choose using the checkbox if you want it to be the final version of would rather keep the starry one as that instead.

- To create a starless image in the first place, the most common method is using StarXTerminator in PixInsight. This is often done anyways so that color manipulation on the main object does not impact star color. You can then save the starless version before readding the stars.
