Hello everyone,

I have some problems with de Nina Meridian flip.

It always start at the beginning of the sequence, regardless of the time it's supposes to start.

My setup is:
  • AZEQ6
  • Player One Poseidon C
  • Redcat 61
  • Nina
  • PHD2GS server

Has anyone had a similar problem?

I think you should put the meridian flip order at the beginning of the sequence. Prior to Exposure info. Because the order of meridian flip applies during the whole session.

=Y2IQFcFor the meridian flip it is better to use the DIY meridian flip plugin

Hi,
Useally, I have the followin as DIY Part at the beginning of any Sequence:

I have a skywatcher EQ6-R Pro and the meridian flip is tried twice in this part, because sometime the system does not react for the first meridian flip.

Here's how I set it up, works every time. The standard flip trigger works just fine. I don't think you mention what mount control software you are using but you have to make sure that it is in sync with NINA. In other words, the mount software flip window needs to be open when NINA sends the command.

Hello

If I understand well, The trigger for meridian flip is starting earlier than it should?
I have not had this problem but I thignk there is still an issue in N.I.N.A. regarding the computed time for meridan.
In my case some times in a wait for time meridian  (+offset) instruction, it waits forever, even if time has aready expired.

It coud be usefull to see the rest of the squence to see if there is any other instrucion that could cause this effect.

I coul also be usefull to see a screen shot during the real execution showing the imaging pannel with the sequence sub pannel expalded as much as possible.

and also, important is to tell us the version of N.I.N.A.

Regards

It's also important to know what mount control software is being used.

here an evidence that N.I.N.A. has trouble in advanced sequencer to calculate meridian flip: you can see from the graphic  that the object will pass meridian  at about 21:30 but the calculated time for te wait for meridian is about 9:30, that is 12 hours (earlier or later)... I've posted this in N.I.N.A. Discord, but have no answer yetimagen.png

Not sure if this helps, but one thing I've seen recently is that the "calculated" meridian flip time was wrong before I started the sequence.  I load from a saved target, so that might be part of the issue.  But once I started the sequence, I checked and the flip time had updated to the correct time.  Perhaps all you need to do is start the sequence and check if it's changed.

Good Luck,
Ron

NINA also fail to flip for me sometimes, usually when I'm restarting a sequence when imaging for multiple nights. It sometimes fixes itself during the recenter part.
I've also seen NINA do a the meridian flip at the end of the night before parking This usually happens when I'm shooting a target that is already past meridian before it gets dark.
The meridian flip times is about right when the sequence is running.

Actually, no. The chart shows that “now” is roughly 21:30, and that the object *has passed* meridian at 21:10. It has already crossed the meridian, and if the telescope is already on the East side of the pier, NINA calculates that the next flip will be in about 12 hours. And this seems correct to me, as there won’t be any need to flip until then.

What I'm wondering, isn't it sufficient to add the meridian flip to the "Global Triggers" on top? Then it is independent of the respective targets that are defined in the sequence. If I remember correctly, the time for the flip that is shown then depends on where the telescope is pointing at that moment.
However, as soon as the flip actually starts (depending on settings of mount, etc.), the one displayed (in the sequencer, imaging tab, etc.) is already the one that will take place in 12 hours.

Some time ago, for example, I had problems with Nina pausing indefinitely in the middle of a flip, or that the flip did not even start. I noticed that the value ‘0’ kept appearing in Az. Since I replaced the cable (it was previously the cheap and thin one from ZWO), I no longer have any problems. (iOptron GEM28)

Actually, no. The chart shows that “now” is roughly 21:30, an

no, if you see the numbers in the graphic,  the now is at about the middle between 9 and 00, that is about 10:30.
The sequence was already running at this time. The run stalled at this wait instruction, and I had to remove the wait to continue.

Ah, got it. Do you recall at what time you started the sequence? If it was after 21:30, I bet that NINA considered the next meridian pass, regardless of whether you were still in the 40-minute interval since the last meridian pass you had specified in the “wait” instruction.

may be you are right,  although I started N.I.N.A. at about 21:23,   the sequence run started at 21:56... If I had not cooled the camera before starting, may be it had run as I espected...
