Hiya fellow astrophotographers! I am very new to astrophotography (read 3 months old) so I don't think I can even call myself an amateur ! It all started with photographing the comet and since then there have been no looking back. Have been reading a lot and watching YouTube videos which has helped me immensely, for surely the astrophotography community is amazingly helpful. I have been into birdwatching and bird photography over a decade hence have been trying to repurpose my gear for AstroPhotography. I managed to buy a used Ioptron Skyguider Pro and some accessories (Dew Heater band, Right-angled Viewfinder, Astronomik CLS clip-in filter); and use them with my stock Canon 7D mark II & 400mm f/5.6L lens. Here is an image I managed with the combo (messed up the framing ) and also this one with the 50mm f/1.8 II Looking forward to learn a lot more here :-) - Rudy.

Hi Rudy, always nice to see a fellow UK astrophotographer! I'm over in the South-west and have been clouded out since the start of Jan, fingers crossed for at least one night this week though, the forecast looks a little promising. Great work on your first images, I always like widefield Orion shots!

Hi Rudy and welcome!
Congratulations on a great start to your Astrophotography hobby! Two nice images from Orion under your belt. AP is a wonderfully rewarding hobby that sometimes taxes the mind. when everything works right it is truly a beautiful thing! Plus, self captured and processed images are way high on the “cool” scale.
Bird photography is also a wonderful hobby. I also love bird photography, but really need a 400mm lens like you have. My current lens of choice is a Sam Yang 135 mm F2 that I bought for a P, but it hasn’t made it there yet!
looking forward to your upcoming work!

Hi Rudy, welcome from another UK astrophotographer.
A brilliant start with your first two images. I've only be imaging for approx. 2 years and constantly learning, although there's no feeling like the first time you see a DSO resolving on you camera/computer. I remember the first time I saw Jupiter through the eye-piece, and the first exposure of the Whirlpool Galaxy appearing on my computer. Unforgettable.
I'm based in Lancashire and 2025 has already been better than 2024, and the possibility of a few more clear nights later this week.
Enjoy your journey.
