I have a brand new Wanderer Cover V4-EC and I have been using it for less than a month now. Yesterday the Wanderer Empire software crashed mid session and while trying to reopen it, it gave a cascade of popups errors saying invalid date, repeating it to infinity until crashing the software or the computer. I cannot access any button inside Wanderer Empire as it freezes and the errors overlap the software interface. I tried several things, like rebooting the computer, installing an older ASCOM 6.6 version, removing all Wanderer Empire files, installing an older Wanderer Empire version, trying to connect via Wanderer Console, but nothing worked and in all instances I had the cascade of errors, even with the older version of Wanderer Empire. I have a remote observatory and my flat panel is stuck closed and with the light turned on. I lost a very good summer new moon night that is quite rare this time of the year where I live, and made my New Years a nightmare trying to solve the problem while the year was turning, as this happened just before midnight. Apparently there is no reports of this problem besides some guy on Cloudy Nights that just mentioned it briefly on a Wanderer CAA topic, and that never came back to elaborate more. I already emailed Wanderer but my hopes are a bit low and I expect them to take some very good time until releasing a fix to this bug. If someone knows anything on this, it would help a lot. |

Same problem here. I just saw a Facebook post saying Wanderer Astro just released a fix for the invalid date issue. It apparently will work only on ASCOM 7. I'm about to login to the remote PC and make the ASCOM and Wanderer Empire software updates.

I can confirm that the software fix is working.

Steven Zuhoski: Many thanks! I just looked it up on their Facebook, which I did not know that existed, and downloaded the new version. Seems to have fixed the issue. I will try to make some flats later to see if anything goes wrong. Thanks again, happy New Year and CS! |
