Christoph Nieswand: NGC 1333 is mostly a reflection nebula. I would try without filter, if light pollution in your area is not too extreme. The L-enhance takes away a lot of nice signal. More than that, the L-Enhance/L-Extreme/L-Ultimate are narrowband filters that only capture light falling in two distinct wavelengths of light. 500.8nm (Oxygen III) in the blue/green end of the spectrum at 656.3nm (Hydrogen alpha) that are really only present in emission nebulae. You see it SO OFTEN, people shooting broadband targets like reflection and dark nebulae with narrowband filters because they thing "oh, its just supressing light pollution" when in actual fact, its only allowing a total of between 6nm (3nm band pass per wavelength) and 24nm (12nm per band pass) (So, between 1 and 10%) of the total 320nm of visible spectrum... Using dual narrowband filters on anything other than emission nebulae (Except in specific circumstances where you're adding punch to a small emission section in a broadband target, light highlighting nebulous regions in a galaxy, or small emission nebulae nestled in with reflection nebs) is a terrific way to waste time, and to create processing nightmares that are nigh on impossible to resolve. Its important for everyone to know that narrowband filters ARE NOT light pollution filters. yes - they cut out light pollution, but they cut out EVERYTHING else as well, except that tiny slice of the spectrum they are designed to let in. Astronomy is unfortunately, very expensive, you may need to own a light pollution filter for home, a uv/ir cut for dark sites, Ha/OIII dual band and SII/OIII for emission nebulae you want to shoot in a more dramatic way than their standard look with just RGB/OSC images... But you can't just buy a Ha/OIII and think that's the only filter you need, unless, you only want to shoot Ha/OIII targets...

Thanks for taking the time to help me out- learning a lot. My Third attempt -No filter -frame 180" gain 100--- single and stacked image --all were taken before flip ( having issues with asiair and not flipping causing the framing to be off, like you stated Alex) single exposure: 180" total time 5 hours Siril /graxpert -background extraction and noise reduction only- my 4th attempt will be to resolve the right side -? Tested the camera on Eastern veil: 300"--Cameral looks to be ok stacked 300" 4 hours -Siril/Graxpert-background and Noise reduction only |

As I undertand, you are NOT using flat frames for calibration, right? You definitively should!

Tom H: I’m using flats Then they are not really working, do they? Let's cut the chase, so can you post (Google drive and similar) a set of lights, the master bias and the master dark (and let's hope they are proper ones!) so that the comunity can have a go? At any rate, to answer your original query, no, the camera isn't malfunctioning. It is the calibration procedure that isn't working.

Probably already stated but to reitrate: Graxpert and other gradient removal tools work best on cropped images. These AI tools can hallucinate if image contains stacking artifacts. Best to crop a bit more than not enough. I would consider evaluating the image and crop when STF (visual stretch) heavily exaggerated prior to gradient removal.
Best of luck and keep up great work!

Andrea, Do I need to check box's if using Sirll -OSC_Preprocessing script. Siril does not mention to do that when running script .
Still trying to figure out how to share files on site with Google Drive

If the script runs without errors then you have all the necessary calibration files and they are applied. You don't have to worry about those check boxes unless you are running a manual process, not a script. I second the idea to post all your lights and calibration files so we can have a good hard look at your data. Something is really messed up and I'm sure more experienced eyes will find the problem right away.

Still trying to figure out how to share files on site with Google Drive As Tony said, you don't need to do that for a script, assuming you got all the locations figured. I don't use them, however.

Good job, except you have to crop it to remove all no-overlap areas so the Graxpert works at best.
