Hi everyone, I’m trying to connect to my AM5 mount from my ASIAIR+ via WiFi, but I keep getting a connection error. This is what I have done so far. 1. Powered up the AM5 and connected the hand controller. 2. Used the SkyAtlas app to update to the latest hand controller and mount firmware. 3. Noted the hand controller ip address in the SkyAtlas app. That is the ip address in the AMH Management System -> Hand Controller WiFi Info section of the app. 4. Input hand controller ip address in the ASIAIR+ mount settings and attempted to connect to the AM5. This is where I get the connection error. I did see the help info in the ASIAIR+ says to put the mount into station mode for the wifi connection, but I can’t see how to do that. Not sure if that is what I’m missing or something else. If anyone could help me with how to make the connection work I’d be grateful. Thanks, Andy |

Hmmm. Can't really help as I've never tried to Wifi directly to the AM5. But, curious as to why you want to do this? Why not ditch the hand controller all together, hardwire the AM5 directly the ASIair and then wifi to the ASIair?

Tom Boyd: I thought I could avoid having the cable running from my ASIAIR to the mount as I’m always worried about cables snagging. I got the Wi-Fi working but slew commands are hit and miss via Wi-Fi so will just stick to usb. |

A WiFi connection to the mount is unreliable. Do as suggested by connecting the Air to the mount via usb and then tablet to asiair via wifi…solid as a rock

1)Enable station mode on the AAP+ 2) set the AM5 to join the AAP-created network. Note the ip and port for the AM5. 3) on the AAP under mount, set to WiFi and enter the AM5 IP and port |

Regarding reliability, when I used an ASI Air/AM5 combo, I ran them wirelessly for mount control and never had issues through several multi-night runs. So, while a cable is more reliable, the wifi seemed fine IMO.
