There's no guarantee it will happen in September either. But there are people with very large telescopes monitoring it all the time. I'm not sure if I will spend any imaging time on it myself. I was considering it but I am undecided for the time being.

I spent a couple of months since I first heard about it taking 15 minutes a day with my main rig to see nothing happen. I stopped since I switched up rigs and am working through the issues related to that and would rather focus on a few more interesting targets. If I had another rig or something like a Seestar I probably would’ve kept tracking it.

The question is… is it just going to be a new temporary bright star?  If so, that sounds kind of boring photography-wise.

That's what I'm counting on. A star that brightens but perhaps visibly so if you are lucky enough to capture it unless it happens very gradually. Which is why certain people are doing it for the long run in order to feature in scientific papers with observable data from a long period of time.
