Hello! I'm a complete newbie just getting started with my first real attempt at deep space astrophotography. My initial current setup, that Im just now learning to use, is:

Celestron 9.25 Edge HD
CGX Mount
Celestron Autoguide
ZWO ASI6200MM pro Camera
Filter wheel
Filters
Laptop running CPWI

Looking forward to clear, dark skies and learning from this group

Depends which side of the mountains he is on.... I am in Portland and you are correct although its not as bad as its made out to be.
When it's clear in the NW, it is CLEAR. We get rain or clear, there is not much middle ground.
If he is in Eastern Wa., he is in dark sky. Eastern Oregon has the the darkest sky in the country. 3 hour drive and I am in Bortle 1.

Oh yes, for sure.  I grew up in Astoria.  All I knew was rain and the two days of summer we usually got in August lol.  Coast range will knock down some of the moisture, cascades will keep the east side drier, but it's still not all that great.    The stars have to align for a new moon campout with clear skies in the darker areas though, lol.   I don't have the percentages on me, but I glanced at some of the historical data for areas east of the Dalles and it wasn't all that great.  Plus you have to move even farther east if you want good seeing.
