My name is Berengar and I am 40 years young. Originally from Basel, I live in Aargau and have since become firmly rooted in the Swabian Alb due to family ties and marriage. There I was also incredibly lucky to be able to set up a concrete pillar and indulge in the hobby from the sofa under a rather dark country sky. And thanks to an understanding and clever wife, this pillar occasionally becomes a remote telescope. When the opportunity arises, we are on the road in Europe with our camper "Gandalf" and then travel with smaller equipment - mainly around the phases of the new moon.

My enthusiasm for astronomy began on St. Nicholas Day 1995 when I looked through the eyepiece of a Newtonian telescope. The incredibly good free-viewing of C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) shortly afterwards increased my enthusiasm even more. Many years later, I made my first attempts at photography using eyepiece projection, among other things. At the end of the 2010s, things got more serious with motorized Skywatcher EQ5s and BackyardEOS, and today I have several telescopes and lenses. I bought the Askar FRA 600 last year as a replacement for a Skywatcher Quattro 8S - I don't have enough patience for reflectors 😁. I also use a FRA300 Pro with ASI2600MC or various Sigma lenses on a Sony Alpha 7IIa when hitting the road. Everything is carried either by a ZWO AM5 or ZWO AM3.

I am a member of the SAIA (Swiss Astro Imaging Association) and also founded the regulars' table "NOX CALEO" a few years ago with my StarPal Julian to make it easier for other astronomy enthusiasts to get started in astrophotography and to be able to exchange ideas regularly and informally. Astronerds from southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland come together regularly offline and online to exchange ideas and even for astro trips/astro excursions.
