I am a middle-aged programmer from the middle-of-nowhere Tennessee, USA. I started astrophotography early last year and love it.
My dog Biscuit is a three-year-old Good Boy.
We make a good team. I take the pictures while he chases armadillos and barks at the darkness to keep me safe.
Really, he's the brains of the outfit. I just do what I'm told.

Welcome to you and Biscuit! Was the name related to a favorite food? Our dogs have been astro companions for years. First at star parties where they got a lot of attention (We found out that our favorite breed, Old English Sheepdogs, attract a lot of attention due to their size and plentiful fur) and later as observatory companions. They also like the cold night temperatures. Pic is an older one and both the the equipment and the dog are now gone but we have two others of the same breed and newer equipment. Never pass up an opportunity to post either an astronomy photo or a dog photo and this thread has both! |

I wasn't sure when posting this about the rules regarding attached photos. I decided to err on the side of caution and assume only astronomy-related photos were okay. @Bill McLaughlinThe equipment in that picture looks incredible. What exactly am I looking at? Also, that dog is adorable. What's his name?

AmyWarble: The equipment in that picture looks incredible. What exactly am I looking at? Also, that dog is adorable. What's his name? That is a Paramount ME mount (the older kind) but with a custom tandem plate I machined for it. Left to right the scopes are an FSQ106N, a TOA 130 and a Stellarvue Raptor. Cameras are two old SBIG STT 8300s and a Canon DSLR. All of those are sold now for newer stuff except for the FSQ and DSLR. The DSLR is useful and the 106N is so good I will probably keep it forever since they were mostly better than the current versions. The dog was named Watson, he has been gone now for quite a few years as well but we still have two of the same breed....
