Hello everyone, My name is Kartik. I am an amateur astrophotographer from Perth. I am very fortunate to have decent skies and weather - albeit still light polluted. The good thing about Perth is the nearest dark sky site is not too far away. However, I mostly do Narrowband imaging from my Bortle 5/6 backyard. My interests are Deep sky targets. Of late, I am learning Solar and Lunar too. I have had an interest in the night sky since childhood. However I am new to the astrophotography hobby and have been doing this only for the last 2 years. It’s been a great and challenging journey. No other hobby combines such disparate skills such as Photography, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer sciences, mechanical work, Creative arts, and yes - Meteorology. Among other things, I am a Medical Doctor in Intensive Care, a qualified (but not professional) Epidemiologist and Biostatistician, a Technophile, and a huge Star Trek fan. Hope you enjoy my work and Thanks for having me. Cheers, Kartik |

Welcome in Astrobin Kartik. West Australia Coast is a nice place for astropho. I will be flying to Perth end of July on my way to Carnavron for shooting the night sky, around Shark Bay and Gascoyne Junction, expecting a drier weather than Perth at this time of the year. BTW if you have some good spots to recommend in your area (+/- 500km) let us know ! BTW, Ive been using this very good website https://astrotourismwa.com.au/map/ |

Hi, Kartik. Back at you. BTW, I have just started, from the pilot, all the original Star Trek episodes. I remember only a few from when I was a kid. It is fascinating to imagine seeing this trough the eyes of people whomade and watched in the middle of the space race and before the first moon landing. And I know it's one of the things that for many people into astronomy careers. Perth and WA - what a lovely place. Cheers. Paul |
