Hello, I'm pretty new at this.  Looking forward to seeing inspiring images and learn the techniques. I use a Canon 5D Mk4 and the 16-35mm F4 - F5.6 lens.  I just ordered the Rokinon 24mm F 1.8 after reading good things about it.

Hi and welcome on astrobin!
Yes the Rokinon is very good, I own one myself (24mm f/1.4).
You just need to step it down so stars are to your satisfaction in the corners (else they are deformed: called coma), for mine I need to step down at least at f/2.8, but it is a matter of taste, also can crop.
