Dear astrobinners, every now and then I explore WIKISKY, to learn about the existence of very unknown telescopic asterisms. While exploring, I came across the star 11-Phi Herculis, and what have I discovered… its rather mysterious name: Andjela Raicevic. Dear Astrobinners and WIKISKY explorers, have you discovered much more of this kind of mysterious names? Have some of you compiled a list of them? If so, please let me know (I'm curious). Ohoh! There are indeed much more of those strange names. Time to create my own alphabetic list of them. New hobby! Although… I must say, none of these names are officially accepted by the I.A.U. (International Astronomical Union), which means… they don't belong there. Is there somebody of Wikisky who is responsible to keep an eye on the amount of "extra" starnames? (and "extra" names of deepsky objects too). Well well… I didn't knew about the "other" name of 80 Ursae Majoris (the companion of Mizar), which is called "HNOMICHKA" in Wikisky. A deepsky object called "Devin Thibeault's Nebula" (IC 2948) in Centaurus. Only Wikisky knows that name. You won't believe it… "The Buggy Club Star" (HD 99267) in Ursa Major. Partly, I understand… because the nocturnal starry sky is something for everybody, not only for astronomers and astrophotographers. On the other hand… I.A.U., where are you? "Lucezarnaya Maya 170578" (HD 24368) in Taurus. "Rose Crystal El Harmony" (13 Monocerotis). "Fotomaternal Guide" (NGC 2023) in Orion. Really, WIKISKY is indeed adventurous. |
