Hi all, It's been brought to my attention that an image of mine is being used without my permission on Displate. As one of the AB judging team, I quickly recognized several other well-known images that have likely been appropriated as well. No advertisement, just sharing experiences. I used the service of https://www.copytrack.com/ in the past to take down illegal usage of my work as well as get some money out of it. Their service is "free", they take a good cut out of whatever you claim from the other party. However, there is no risk in paying a lawyer; they act in most countries. However, they are not always the fastest... Sometimes, I had to wait for several months to get a claim solved. Therefore, I am not saying that this is the right way to go, but it could be an option - for sure there are also similar services out there.

It is a member of our team (the DeepskyCollective) who who saw this first. I only passed the information on to the authors I could identify. Obviously, if the allegations are true, this is a very serious offense and the perpetrator, if guilty, should not be permitted to remain on AstroBin. Please be aware that I will not take hasty actions before exchanging some words with the accused party first, to avoid any risk of being unjust. I will write an email to Ika and temporarily suspend their access to AstroBin while the matter is being discussed. Also, please keep in mind that criminal offenses, like copyright infringement, are things that need to be investigated by the competent authorities. AstroBin is not an investigative unit, and I will only act in the presence of overwhelming and undeniable evidence, unless presented with a police report or other official documentation that legitimates the guilt of the alleged perpetrator. At this time, we don't know if the alleged perpetrator is the same Ika Abulazde that's on AstroBin, or a homonym. I will update you on this forum post when I know more. Salvatore One of our images (DeepskyCollective) was on the Displate store, we requested to remove it by providing the link to our image, it was removed directly,like several others since yesterday. We can give you the names of other people who were victims of this theft and who requested and obtained the removal of their images. Go on his Displate acount , you'll find his yt Channel , and there his insta acount ... Same pics than in his AB acount ;)

I followed links from the person's Displate website profile to their YT page which links other sites like Instagram (and back to the Displate site), in case others want to check for their images being used without permission. @Imran Badr, I didn't find our image on their Instagram site.   |

IMHO an apology for this disgraceful behaviour isn't enough.
I don't put a watermark on my images because I feel it detracts from the image itself, but maybe I should reconsider (although my images probably aren't good enough to steal anyway).
