I'm wondering if anyone else might think it would be a good addition to receive or have the option to receive notifications when users you follow have an image selected as a Top Pick and/or IOTD. It might be a great way to increase engagement and recognition within your circle of followers/those you follow.

maybe an icon in the main page between about and trash icons turn on to indicate that some follower is awarded and then if click the icon open the image, or something like that CS Brian HERE ( red circle)  |

The only thing I wonder is: for every image by one of your followers that gets TPN/TP/IOTD, you'll get two notifications: one when they publish the image, one when it gets awarded. I think the appealing thing here is, assuming it can be so granular, you could theoretically disable notifications for all images published and only receive notifications about top picks. Having said that, I hate to complicate it, but there may be some users you'd want to see notifications for all images published while you may only want to see notifications for TP/IOTDs from other users. I'm okay without this level of control though!

- notifications when users you follow post an image
- notifications when an image by a user you follow gets an award
