I am looking for a more robust solution or method to avoid intermittent problems.
Here's the current status.

241 images in the queue size is not normal, it might signal that the PixInsight instance got stuck. I'll look into it now. But I don't understand why you're restarting it if tells you that it's pending and there are 241 images ahead of you in the queue ![]() |

After a few hours of the spinning wheel, I wanted to start fresh. I did not see the Plate-solving information menu until later.

Confirmed that the PixInsight instance server got stuck. I'll look into a way to detect that to automatically restart it, but in the meanwhile I set an email notification for me when the PixInsight queue gets too large, so I can take a look early without a too sever impact. I know that there are a couple of issues external to AstroBin that cause occasional disruptions with plate-solving: - astrometry.net fails 1-2 times a year, Dustin Lang mentions they run out of disk space ![]() - again a couple times a year, PixInsight on AstroBin crashes. I'm suppose to update to the latest, I've got the task in my queue, which according to Juan Conejero of PixInsight improves stability, tho a couple of crashes a year after solving several tens of thousands of images without a reboot is probably not too bad Thanks for reporting this one issue! …or to a more gentle star treatment from our part? My personal experience is that plate solving struggles when submitted images are nearly starless ![]() |
