All that said, I think those with actual facilities that house their equipment would appreciate a distinction from those who rent space but own their imaging equipment. There is a very significant difference between them. IMHO more than the difference between backyard and traveler. Having done both backyard and traveler for decades and now owning my non commercial indepent facility , for more than a decade, I know something about this... Please respect this request...

Rent space = "Own remote observatory" + some specific commercial facility as remote data source, e.g. Starfront, AstroCamp, etc
Own the full thing = "Own remote observatory"  + "Non-commercial independent facility"

Or am I misinterpreting this request?

Thanks!

Can you at least link "Data source: Own remote observatory " to my website rather than commercial facilities?
Adding the external link as suggested doesn't do this...

In the upcoming image page refresh, that will be linked to a search page for all images acquired at an "Own remote observatory". This is in line with the fact that many other properties link to search pages for images sharing the same property.

On the classic image page, your link is displayed undernearth the image's title. On the new page it's currently tucked away in the menu, but I'll make it the same as the classic page ASAP.

Please understand that AstroBin doesn't know that the link that you provided signifies, so I cannot just blanket-replace the "Own remote observatory" link with the provided link, as that would be arbitrary.

Understood, could you please consider adding a field to the "content page" that allows under "Own Remote Observatory" a link to the imagers website as an option to replace the link to commercial facilities? I think that would remove that ambiguity.

Too much discussion. I'm now so confused. Will I still be able to just skip this section?

Sorry, My eyes started to glaze over about halfway through all these posts.

My case is my observatory in my backyard. Not remote.

It should be designated as?

I suspect it would be useful at the end to publish a summary and legend guide, perhaps making it appear by clicking on a “?” Button in the corner.

For the moment, would it be best to skip this section until final determinations are made, since the data fields may not line up with new definitions?

A "?" button is a good idea but the definition never changed. There are no new definitions.

As the OP I think that the biggest part of the issue was that many people (including me) were not clear on just what all the options meant and how to use them in a given situation. That would indeed make the "?" a good idea.

The only thing that may be actually missing is the ability to designate a scope that is a time rental system operated by the person renting the time on that system. I am not sure how important it is to be able to specify that.
