I love the idea of being able to search a section of sky in a particular filter band. However, there is room for improvement. For example, I was interested in searching Cepheus for O-III possibilities. The “Cepheus” part is easy, the rest was not. As implemented, the search engine is expecting me to specify a very specific filter - Brand, Size, and Bandpass. 1) The Size of the filter is 100% irrelevant to the function of the filter. 2) Though some would argue, I would also say that the Brand of the filter is largely irrelevant to seeing what composition possibilities are out there. 3) In this light, even Bandpass is only marginally useful. In summary, the current search options are great for drilling down to images that are taken with my exact equipment. But for survey purposes, not so much. What do you think about a high-level filter (such as “O-III”) option? |
