Some images posted on Astrobin span the entire width of the Astrobin page with the "Like" button and other things below it. Others are restricted to lefthand part of the page with the "Like" button etc to its right. How is that controlled? Or, if it is not controlled by the image author, what in Astrobin decides how to present the image?

As far as I know Alex, this depends on the image ratio. All my "wide" images (via crop) span across, while the "typical" camera ratio does not.

I would say a 'horizontal' presentation causes the Like button below the image while a 'vertical' one locates it on the right hand side.

AstroBin decides this, and is not user controllable. It depends on the aspect ratio of the image and the size of the window of the viewer. AstroBin prefers the wide view when the whole image plus the title below would fit without scrolling.

If the image's aspect ratio and user window are such that the title would not be visible if the image expanded horizontally, then AstroBin prefers the view with the sidebar.

This happens so that the user knows that there's something to scroll to.

Please note that in the future you'll be able to opt-in to the same view as in the new search page, and new users as well as anonymous visitors will see that view by default, therefore the view you refer too will be less relevant.

Hope this helps!
