Is there a a way to specify the starting image size on my bin page. Horizontals are fine as it normally presents the full image but for verticals only see the top part of the frame at a much higher magnification factor. some like is done in slide show mode.

Hi Tony,

AstroBin automatically decides whether to display your image with a sidebar or in full width depending on the aspect ratio of the image and the size of the viewport, with the goal of showing as much of as possible while making it clear that there's more to scroll in the page.

Do keep in mind that the whole image page as you know it, henceforth known as the classic view, is about to be replaced entirely with a new view, that users may decide to use optionally.

You can preview it here:

https://app.astrobin.com/u/Gondola#gallery

Now, if there's an actual bug tho, I will fix in the classic view too, and not just dismiss it as legacy.

If you send me a link and a screenshot of what it looks like for you, I'll have a look.

Thanks!
Salvatore

Salvator,

I love the new format! That is going to work perfectly for me. How soon will that roll out?

It’s very close now! I’ll add you to the test group after dinner so you can already use it and let me know if you spot any issues smile Thanks!

New format looks great. The thumbnails look like windows of a space ship that you are looking out of. Or is that just me after too much cough mixture?

Salvatore,

Any chance that one could opt to continue using the Classic view?

Salvatore,
Can I get a preview of my gallery in the 'new view'? I tried to guess a URL based on the link you gave Tony Gondola, but I just got '404' pages for anything I tried.

Or perhaps your advice to me is to wait just a bit if you feel the 'new view' roll out is eminent. I imagine you don't want a boatload of people making this same request.

Hey Jim,

no problem, it takes me 10 seconds to add you to the roll out. Just done!

Go to your page where you'll see a banner inviting you to try the new gallery experience.

I believe I'm making the last few changes over the next day or two before I begin a wider roll out.

Thanks in advance if you have any feedback,
Salvatore
