What is this header for the marketplace supposed to be?
A WIP solution? Someone's hands are melting into the form of a lens; there's (what I assume to be) a high-tech, state-of-the-art Harmonic holding up a 6" frac by the last 10cm of its tube; there's a steam-punk, cobbled-together EQ6-R on the left side of the image...
I understand AstroBin probably doesn't have any artists on their team, but I don't feel this is the way to go.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I don't have any artist. AstroBin is a team of one and I'm the frontend engineer, backend engineer, UI designer, UX specialist, database engineer, dev-ops technician, marketer, sales agent, and customer support specialist.

So in this case the choice was to have no image at all, a random image purchased from ShutterStock or something, or an astrophotograph just to have something there.

Sorry to have disappointed you specifically with this!

Seeing as astrophotography is an art in itself, and AI art is basically the scourge of artists nowadays, I see a stock image or an astrophotograph as a much more fitting option. While the AI-generated image is fitting, and it makes for a cool image concept, in my opinion, it's more soulless than any of the other options.

In effect in my mind, the header image was the first aspect deserving a comment, possibly negative, after I knew that AB had a new feature…

Astro folks can be so judgemental.  Pixel peepers!  I think it's great.  It's whimsical.  Let's concentrate on the fantastic brand new feature that eliminates the need for the somewhat inelegant alternatives.

Great job, Salvatore!

The good thing about art is, that it is not like 1 + 1 = 2. As long as it is not offensive (or other bad things) one should be allowed to present anything. You do not like this image, and I respect this, I actually like it.

Wow some people just like to complain about anything.   I think it's perfect for the market place header.

Agreed! There is always someone in the crowd that has to wine about something. Me along with many others were on the Beta testing team and that was the last thing that we were concerned about! @Salvatore Iovene has done an incredible job to create this new feature and quite honestly were all lucky its free with our subscription. There are other astro classified websites that you have to pay in order to post or respond to an ad. (Astromart) is one of them. We do not.
