Hello, not sure if my ASIAIR+ is bricked by went to test my equipment this afternoon to make sure everything was running smoothly after about 6 months of being in the closet. I booted up my ASIAIR and connected as usual. It showed there was a firmware update. I was connected to the Air's hotspot wifi while downloading and installing the update. In the end, the update failed and I was not able to find the hotspot wifi again to retry the firmware installation. I connected the Air to my modem via ethernet cable and was able to complete the install however the wifi hotspot does not show up. I updated the ASIAIR app (which was my issue last year) and problem still not solved. I deleted and re-installed the app, attempted to use my ethernet cable to turn on Station mode but the Air does not connect. All the lights on the unit show normal operation. Ive also reset to factory settings and re-installed the latest firmware without success. I'm so confused and frustrated by this as the device was working just fine before the initial firmware failure. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi, I faced the same problem. My temporary fix so far was to plug my guiding cam ASI 224MC into a regular USB port, not the USB 3 one. This helped me to gain connection back.

*Interesting, my guide camera was the only thing not plugged in when I tested everything out and even when it is it's usually plugged into the 2.0 ports on the astrocamera itself. It's gotta be something with the firmware

Hello Robert [ @Robert Khoury ],

Though I have not lost my WIFI connection(s), I have experienced issues ....  See my current Forum post.

It seems that some of us are experiencing various issues ... hopefully not the many of us.

If in fact there are ZWO issues, one would think they would have solved them ... or at least be working on it.

The ASIAIR has been terrific for me, you and presumably multiple thousands of others.

*Thank you Jay, will check out your post. This device has very reliable for me the last few years and I've loved it so far. I'm very frustrated with this current issue. I can get it to work with an ethernet cable but I dont have one long enough to connect outside. Hopefully they fix this soon if it indeed a firmware issue

Robert, don't know if this helps, but I abandon using the ASIAir wireless device quite awhile ago. I now ethernet the ASIAir to a portable router and get my wireless connection off of the router. Works great, infinitely more reliable, better range. This is the portable router I use:

*thank you Tom, I think I just saw this mentioned in another post. Can you use the asiair to power it? I would like to go this route if it means I can image again. I know about N.I.N.A but this set up works the best for me.

It's powered through a USB 2 plug. I, however, don't power this through my Air, as I don't have any spare USB ports.  Instead, I power it from my power supply which has a spare USB power out and which I place in the bag on my tripod to weight down the tripod.

*I have one usb 3 slot open on my Air so should be able to power it up. I'll get this extender and hope for the best. Thank you again

I have the same extender and it can be powered from the Air.  However I only use it if one of my Airs is having a "bad night".  Most of the time they work fine but I think they are prone to interference from other networks.  If you want to try the wifi again just make sure the hotspot shows up and reset the wifi by holding down the little button if it does not.  You may find it works fine on another night.

In regard to cables I have heard that bad USB 3.0 ports or cables can cause wifi interference.  I've tossed all my ZWO flat 3.0 cables and replaced them with shielded ones.  Less "bad nights" for the Airs.

I read on a forum, perhaps here that when you update the ASIair firmware you must reinstall the software.  This has worked nicely for me.

Thanks John, yes I've re-downloaded the app multiple times without any luck. This helped solve a problem I had last year but this time doesn't seem to be working

Getting really tired of ASIair updates. Just when I want to setup for the night, I find an update is forced on me, or a new firmware is afoot and things don't work afterwards. I sense the updates are rushed because sometimes they don't even take the time to spell check the interface and the misspellings show up on the screen.

Same here, after the last update my AA+ wouldn't recognise the rotation of my camera and so when I used an image from my last session as my go-to target, I couldn't match up the camera rotation (since my last session I'd stripped my rig down and fiddled with things and don't have an electronic rotator so I couldn't get it exactly back to how it was before). In the Sky-Safari, it just wouldn't recognise that the target and scope were not rotationally aligned and so I had to eyeball it, I got close but will still need to do some heavy cropping later to hide the stacking artefacts. It's just so frustrating when clear nights are so rare and then you're faced with a mandatory update that causes problems and eats into your imaging time.
This was the last straw for me as I had problems on the previous update as well, I've decided to order a Mele Quieter 4C and move over to NINA - might seem a tad extreme but at least I should have much more control over what's going on and when things get updated.

I'm moving to a Ryzen 7 and use the internal NVMe for transfer of the subs. I find that with an ASI6200MM, I often get timeouts on polar alignment or focus with the air reporting that the image failed. That and the upgrade dilemma is enough to turn me to NINA. I always planned to move to NINA but the ease of use with the air was great for me as a noob. I also want to run equipment other than Chinese manufactured. I don't see them as always being accessible with the world in a downward spiral.
