Hello,

I am currently using a Sony A7ii on my SC8 but looking to purchase the ZWO ASI071 MC pro for Xmas. I am curious to check the different in the qulaity of the subs using a dedicated cooled camera and I was wondering if any owner of this camera will be ok to share with me raw files from a target (lights/dars/flats/bias) so I could play around.

If you can help many thanks in advance!

I don't think you are trading up, so to say. Except maybe with the "star-eater" from some of those SONYs DSLRs. The 071 has exactly the same sensor of a D5100 and that isn't exactly cutting edge.

P.S>: I have the aforementioned camera

Hey Andrea, indeed this is bit of a old camera but I need large pixel size for my C8 with a pixel scale of 0.49 which I can manage with my mount. Also I need an asi camera to work with ASI Air and the ASI 294 seems to have too many issues with post-processing. I could do also with the cooling as the noise on the sony sensor for long pause is crazy.  In addition the C8 is not really adapted to full frame. So it's kind of the best choice. Would you think I should get something else? I am curious and thankful for your feedback!

I have absolutely and totally ZERO issues with the ASI294MC/MM and this for the past 4 years and I still have to understand where that came from. Given that the difference in pixel size is trivial and the extra 15% of FOV can't be too critical that would be my primary (and only) choice and recommendation as alternative to the ASI071MC-Pro. From my experience with the D5100 (which is rather extensive) I'd say that thermal noise in my environment isn't terrible with up to 300s of integration (and I can post a dark as for example).
