Okay, really good to know.
I asked the same question on another website and the people there were a bit sceptical that this combination would work fine without AutoGuiding.
But you all did it without AutoGuiding, too?
If so:
Does the Redcat 51 really worth considering the Canon 200mm f2.8?
I know, it's a photo lens but you get it used for about 350€ and the Recat 51 used for 700€
What are your thoughts about it?

No I did use auto guiding. Asi120mm mini with zwo mini guide scope and controlled asiair+

Wow! Very impressive, Claudio!
So I think it will definitely be the RedCat 51.
It's amazing what you can get even without AutoGuiding or long exposure of 2 or 3 minutes
Modifying my camera is probably my next step, but I'm not sure if I should upgrade my current one or if I should sell it and buy a modified one. It seems cheaper this way
Or are there any cheap astro-cameras?

there is always a risk with modifying, some people get more bloated stars or some people get other problems. I say if you have a camera that you don't use anymore, or if you are not gonna use your current one for daytime photography, then I would say go for it. you can ship it out to someone to do it for you, I got my camera used from eBay and did the modification on my own with help of a YouTube video. if you do decide to do it yourself than you should be okay with breaking your camera. for me it was quite a process, but it went great. even if you send it out to someone there is still a chance that something goes wrong, or that you are gonna have some problems after with it( overly bloated stars is I think the most popular). I don't have any visible problem with mine. I didn't want to mess with my expensive daytime camera the Sony a7ii so I just got a used Nikon d5300 for like 200 euros and modified it myself. if you do however want a dedicated astro cam, I would say go for it. the most popular that I have seen is the asi 553mc, which is an extremely good starting camera. me myself I bought a asi 183mc pro, but honestly if you don't mind the square sensor, having no amp glow is a real treat for a beginner in astro cooled cameras. in my opinion if you pair a astro cam with something like the asi air (as like a travel kit, or just in general, having a mini pc on the rig rather than lapotp outside was quite the difference for me) it will always win over a dslr, because the cooling alone makes it so much more enjoyable to edit the images. and it opens the door with longer exposure time without having more hot pixels than stars.

Hi there!
At the moment I use my Canon 600d, my Star Adventurer and some lenses with lower focal lengths.
Now I want to upgrade my kit and saw some of your posts here.
One telescope that I saw was the Redcat 51.
Is it a good one for the Star Adventurer or is it too heavy or is the focal length too long for it?
CS Tom

Redcat 51 is not suitable for older Staradventurer models. The current Staradventurer Gti version (controlled via both axes) is required. Otherwise you can hardly get round stars with a focal length of 250 mm.

This is only true without guiding! With guiding there will be no problem.

I have that same camera and iOptron Skyguider Pro, which is a star tracker and have same charasterictics than SW Star adventurer. I went from Samyang/Rokinon 135mm (which is still great lens) to Redcat 51 v2 and cannot be more happy. I could do 60 second exposures without guiding and if you are careful and precise you can do a bit longer than that. Now with quiding it can do easily 3-5 min. exposures. Weight will not be a problem but pay attention to balance, both RA and Dec axis.

What comes to the price difference between RedCat and camera lens, you are technically paying it for being an astrograph: In addition to top quality optics, it is compatible with astrocameras, comes with finer focuser, filter compartment, place for guide scope, camera rotator, vixen dovetail attachment, bahtinov mask etc. right out of the box. With camera lens you need to buy or build all of those separately. Think about that aspect if you want update your setup in the future.

One last question:
What's actually the difference between the RedCat and the RedCat V2?

From the Agena website description of the Redcat:What's new about the RedCat 51 III vs. older RedCat 51s?There are three main differences between the RedCat 51 III and older versions:
  1. RedCat 51 III has the same optics as its predecessors, but features a brand new focuser design: the WIFD. William Optics developed this patented focuser design as an improvement to standard drawtube style focusers. They have been replacing all of their existing telescopes to feature this upgraded design. Read on to learn about the WIFD focuser below.
  2. As a result of this new focuser design, the RedCat 51 WIFD is also quite a bit heavier than the previous version. This version weighs 5.2 lbs (2.4 kg) vs. the RedCat 51 "U" which weighs 3.9 lbs (1.8 kg) with all accessories (dovetail, tube rings, and saddle) attached.
  3. The back of the tilt adapter on the RedCat 51 III now features M54 x 0.75 threads. This means you may remove the M48 adapter and attach M54 accessories, which is the preferred thread size if you are imaging with a full frame sensor camera.
