Hi everyone. I have a new WO FLT 120. So far everything works very nicely and very happy.

 However if I point the scope vertically, for example during balancing on the mount, the OTA tends to slip in the saddle rings … which is a bit scary and leaves me wondering if it might fall out during a session. The mounting ring knobs are as tight as I can make them by hand, which seems to just hold it, but over time it will start slipping again. The brackets that the knob's secure seem to be metal to metal, so it doesn’t look like it can be tightened further.

Just wondering if this is a general problem and what people do about it? As I mentioned it’s new, so this shouldn’t be wear and tear on the bracket lining. This is my first telescope ( I am upgrading from camera lenses ) so sorry if it’s an obvious solution.

FLT 120 here, same problem. Fixed that 2 years ago with a small strip of adhesive velcro. All it need is just a bit of resistance to not slip.

When I make my own rings, I line them with this sticky-back Felt. Works great, very smooth, very thin, very clean, very safe.
But I agree with Andrew, this should not happen in the first place.

but that’s crazy that has not been fixed…….. scopes should absolutely not do that.

It shouldn't do that but it's also not THAT bad. Happens only with the scope pointing up during flat sessions on cold humid nights with condensation on the tube, and it's a very slow slip. Very easy to fix.

Thanks for your helpful comments and fixes, I agree the slippage is not great and can be stopped with an extra hard twist of the knobs, but it seems odd that such fixes are needed straight out the box.
