It opens GraXpert via CMD and it then automatically launches a gradientremoval based on AI (only this is possible in the CMD-Mode).
After that the Script loads the processed image back in PixInsight.

If it does not support the CMD-Mode (aka you've got an old GraXpert version), it just open GraXpert normally.


Thanks for the details, @Elias  ! I do have a question though: I'm curently using the the latest beta version available on their website ('Ariel'), and when I run the script through ToolBox --> GraXpert, I still have it open on its own window  and I need to manually adjust it, save my image and then quit the software so that the image is 'updated' on PI.

I'm very happy with the results from the AI, so it would amazing if I could just run it through CMD automatically as you mentioned - it seems I can't do it, even though I downloaded the latest version. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot it?

For your information GraXpert team did a PreRelease v2.1.1 yesterday.

I did some tests with GraXpert4PixInsight v1.0.0-beta.3 and it works fine (Win64)

I don't know if this version is stable for Linux and MacOS users.

Having issue similar to earlier post. Unable to run Graxpert within Pixinsight.  Error from process console is attached. I have specified the location of the Graxpert file using the wrench icon. No problem running Graxpert outside of PI. OS is Win 11

Could you try GraXpert4PixInsight:

It requires GraXpert 2.1.1 or higher version.
PreRelease is available here:

I received good feedback on Linux and I'm using it on Win64.
No idea for MacOS at the moment.

I've downloaded the latest version of GraXpert 2.2.0 and launched it in PixInsight. However, when I use the wrench tool and point it directly at the application, it just does nothing; the Javascript Routine window does not close, and just tells me "assignment to undeclared variable path." Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Working some hard gradients and tried to use this.  Older version worked in PI but not their latest suggested upgrade.  Back to internal PI method.

PS, hung PI.
