I am so jealous of your backyard.

I have one, I think it is good for shorter focal lengths. 500mm and below. Biggest issue in Canada? Cold temps… the clutches actually disengage for me at ~-25C. That makes it unable for me to use December to March most nights.

I wish I had seen this earlier, I would have sold you mine if you were close enough.

It can be tweaked to run around 1 to 1.2 arc seconds but the DEC backlash is a nightmare. It's not the worm gears but the drive gears that are an issue. The DEC motor is held on by a single bolt and keeping all of the reduction gears aligned and tight is a challenge. It is very easy to knock that motor if you ever transport the mount.

There are a few ways to belt mod it for better performance if you ever decide to. I am still trying to decide if I want to sell mine or belt mod it. Belts should eliminate 2/3rds of the backlash in the mount. At least I hope they will.

I really like mine - I'd never used GoTo before but wanted to upgrade from my SA2i and this fitted the budget. I did follow general advice and loosen the axes a bit which definitely made a difference to accuracy but I've got no complaints at all. I use either my Sv503 80 or SkyMax 127 with a chunky DSLR attached and it always works perfectly for me. I do use an AsiAir mini to control it rather than the handset but did get good results before I upgraded.
