Hello all. During my last imaging session I lowered my sensor temp to -15c, the ambient temperature was 0c. . Tonight I tried to take darks in my basement which has a temperature of 13c. The camera would only reach about -10c, a difference of only 23c. The QHY600 is supposed to be capable of cooling 35c below ambient. This issue seems new to this camera. I have another QHY600 that doesn't have any issues with cooling and its fan seems much louder and more powerful than the malfunctioning camera. Has anyone had issues with the fan failing or debris in the fans? I'm thinking about disassembling the camera to see what is going on.
Thanks,
Dan

Have you checked the UVLO status? See the product page on the QHY page for info in an appendix section.

It's not uncommon for a fan to fail.   One on my QHY I suspect is on it's last legs as well, sometimes it takes quite awhile to reach target temperature.  If you are going to take things apart, you can try lubricating the fan.

To confess - I did not read all previously posted replies but I know that problem as well.

There are a couple of reasons for it - number one and that is an important one is the voltage for the cooling. Almost all supplies do not supply constant 12V as soon as the ambient temperature decreases and/or the cables from the supply unit to the camera are too long, too thin or too cheap.
Another reason is the electronic system of the cooling regulation - you should read the manual of the camera and find the instruction how to reset the appropriate values according to QHY. Most times, it solves that problem.

I most recently had another QHY camera with a similar problem - when the ambient temperature was above approx 5 or 6 C, the camera cooling worked fine, but as soon as the ambient temperature was around 0 oder lower C, the cooling did not function properly anymore -it cooled down to -28C and indicated zero power. Returned it to the dealer and got it repaired within 1 week - the cooling electronics got exchanged under warranty…

I own two QHY600 - one C and one M, both cool different - the C reaches -30C difference without problems, the M reaches only -25C difference - I do not care, because the current is so small, it just does not matter anymore in these days - IMO. With my other QHY cameras (4 in total), I do not have any problems.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
Tonight I took the camera apart. There was some debris in the body, fan, and heatsink. I removed the debris. I would have guessed that the amount of debris would not have been enough to hamper the cooling, however, tonight it cooled down to -15 and required just 60% power. I cycled it twice and it reached temperature both times. Funny thing, last summer I setup my telescope on a very warm evening. The mosquitos were swarming my camera, I think they were attracted to the heat. Some of the debris from tonight was a large mosquito and various mosquito parts.
One issue down, but another cropped up. Tonight I lost my E drive. I restarted the computer and it reappeared. This hobby is a constant struggle.
