Have any of the DSI RC 10c users out there thought of how to replace their focus control boxes should it fail. I’m in a group of 4 DSI RC 10c imagers and we worry about the control box dying. Currently there is no replacement avail from RCOS. Anyone using alternative control boxes? Any thoughts ?? Thanks Mike |

Talking with the owner of DSI in the past, I was told it would be very expensive to produce a single control box. I'm thinking though that if several of us got together to have several made, it may bring down the price to a manageable level. The control box is bound to fail at some point as most are many years old, including mine and without it there is no way to focus and no control of the fans that I'm aware of. It's always good to have a spare. Scott |

Worth looking into. The RC14C has the same controller so those users might be interested as well. At one point I had thought it followed a RoboFocus spec but even if that were true, that wouldn't account for controlling the fans and heater. Jeff |

That's been on my mind too. I wonder if Richard would share the schematics and/or the specs with the group if making new ones by them is not an option. Knowing that, we may be able to configure another stepper motor controller to operate the focuser. The fans and heaters may just need voltage. Behyar |

Jeff Herman: Hi Jeff. One of us did try the Robofocus controller at one time. It worked under manual control only but heated up. So the circuit is not compatible to my knowledge. |

Following. One suggestion is to change the thread title to RC10C/RC14C since they both use the same controller and I think the number of RC14C users is roughly comparable in size to RC10C users.
