It appears to be that Siril just got a new PA- update recently before the 1.4 version.
Which is promisingly more stable than before knowing the only operating system siril had troubles with is Windows.
With this update, it seems now they have fixed the wide-character issue that caused Siril to not save neither create new files or stack the images in certain directories.
I honestly expected more features for Siril like a feature called Derotation.
This a feature that could be useful for those who can't afford or really can't get an Eq wedge for their telescopes, so they have to stick to the alt-az telescopes.
And that is why I was expecting this feature from Siril. When it is applied it could make all of the images that are stacked and aligned.
And not seem unaligned that each stacked image is rotated when it is being stacked and it also would remove the artifacts that the field rotation caused.
But what do you guys think about this update?

It's a very minor update, it didn't offer anything that mattered to me so I'll just wait for the big one that's coming. On field rotation, Siril already does that during the alignment as does most other stacking software. The thing is you will still get a wonky frame where all the frames don't overlap. I'm not aware of anything out there that will correct FR the way BlurX does with star shapes. I think you are more likely to see this addressed in smart telescopes by adding a field de-rotator within the unit itself.

I honestly haven't had any stability issues with Siril on Windows so I'm not sure what you're talking about there.

You might not know because the software accepts your working directory characters that are accepted in English.
But for me, I had wide characters in my working directory. Siril disagreed when I tried to use a directory with my name.
I tried also to use another method in the documents or the C drive itself. Only the c drive worked kind of.
I assume others had that problem too. But now they fixed it so no one else has to worry about the functionality of the software.

I think that's great!

This is not the goal of minor update to bring new feature. However, a derotation algorithm already exists: it is called global star registration.

For more new feature, and the number of new feature is insane, take a look here, at the 1.4.0 changelog entries: https://gitlab.com/free-astro/siril/-/blob/master/ChangeLog?ref_type=heads
