Hello and Welcome!
I have a question for all Siril users online. Does the software Siril have a developer version or any version that includes expanded features, such as the ability to preview mosaic images? I'm feeling a bit confused.
I'm currently trying to find a way to process the mosaic images I created with my Seastar, but I haven't found any helpful resources. The only software that seems to handle this effectively is PixInsight, and I'm curious why so many people prefer PixInsight for mosaic images over Siril.
It's also frustrating that the only information I can find on the official Siril website is about the upcoming versions 1.4 or 2.4, but there is no mention of a developer version.
Is anyone aware of a Siril developer version? I’ve only just heard about it and it seems to be quite hidden. Thank you!

I don't think it's in beta yet. In the meantime why not give the Seti Astro Suite a try. This wonderful bit of free software is becoming more powerful with new features being added on almost a daily basis. In fact, it now has the ability to create mosaics so I would strongly advise that you give it a look. If you stack in Siril and use SAS for the rest you'll be in good shape. In fact, I'll get ripped for this I'm sure but I think SAS is making PI less relevant with every release.

I tried to process one mosaic image and it refused to do the work.

Do you even know where the developer mode is located or where it is? I thought it was pretty straight forward. I looked at his image, and read the description and it mentioned the developer build of Siril. You asked if there was a developer build of Siril and he answered you. "No offense but", you have enough trouble getting production builds of software running. The last thing you should be doing is trying to compile a developer build.

My picture was made with the developer Edition. One of the new Feature is mosaic stacking/stiching. I Took the picture to Test the new Features siril is a Great Tool, thx to all developers siril has good documentaion how to Build the developer Release, Windows,Linux, Mac https://siril.readthedocs.io/de/latest/installation/linux.html#an other free Tool to Stich mosaics is Astap, but siril is able to Stack and Stich in one step and larger stacks. in ha Channel I used Overlap 50-70%, in s2 only 20% this method is Not recomended, but it works. it just take a loooong time to Stack (when use normalisation)

Although I could see the software name in the description only, there is no detailed information. Is that the site where you can get the developer version? I thought this was going to be an exe file or something.

"No offense but", you have enough trouble getting production builds of software running. The last thing you should be doing is trying to compile a developer build. Well to be honest. I didn't do anything like coding or such. So I rather prefer things as the easy way, You know. It's just time-consuming to work for such software instead of just getting it differently.

This is how you download the dev version of siril. 1. Go to this link: Pipelines · FA / Siril · GitLab2. Now scroll down until you find this on the right: NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE VERSION FOR DEV AND THAT ALL CIRCLES HAVE GREEN TICKS If you are on Windows, make sure to download this one: Then you can just unzip the folder and it will download just like how you'd normally download Siril. Your scripts and Starnet connection will transfer over. NOTE 2: As this is a development/unstable version you need to make sure you are updating this frequently. The readthedocs (documentation) page on the dev version shows how to accumulate new updates to add into Siril OR you can do what I do and just reinstall Siril entirely but takes time. If you come across any bugs, file a bug report and they will fix it. It's important to be up to date as the issue you may be having would be fixed in the newest update. I've been using the dev version for nearly a year and love seeing the updates coming through. I've also spoken with lock042 (developer) on the Astrobiscuit Discord server who has said that Masking Tools will be coming in the 1.6 version. As for your question why people use Pixinsight for mosaics instead of Siril, its purely because Siril only recently just got the Mosaic support and Pixinsight has had PhotometricMosaic which has been pretty much the only and best mosaic combiner tool apart from APP. PhotometricMosaic has been around for quite a lot time and works very easily and effectively. The reason why only Pixinsight and APP are used for mosaics is because they were originally the only wa to combine images into a mosaic while the image is linear unlike Microsoft ICE which requires them to be stretched. With Siril having mosaic support, this is a great way for 'free-to-play' people to do these images.

Shiven Ramesh: If you are on Windows, make sure to download this one: IMO, this is not a good idea to point users to the installer. For two reasons: - The installer is only compiled once a week. This is not enough when you see the rate of changes in Siril. - With the installer, you cannot use both versions at the same time (stable and dev). Szijártó Áron: Well to be honest. I didn't do anything like coding or such. So I rather prefer things as the easy way, You know. And this is why I've recommended to you, on your GitLab ticket, to be patient. Some users, with technical skills, can use dev version as they can help us to debug if any. But sometime, the best thing to do is to wait a little bit. A beta version should be released soon.

The mosaic stacking works excellently, even when not used as intended.

If that's the case, that would be great! This means that some users won't need the developer version anymore, which makes it worth the wait.

So, how does this work to get the dev version? Do you need to remove the software first and then install it from the terminal? I did write everything that the site says, but there are a few errors. The software didn't change only the working directory.
