If it can help someone, I've designed a RASA 8 ventilated dust cap to create and/or update dark/bias library without having to remove the dew shield and the camera. Regards, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6853706 Ventilated_Dust_Cap.JPEG |

Looks good. Do you have temperature problems when using a "normal" dew shield? In my city, I can do dark/darkflats with the Celestron aluminium shield. CS |

Hello Nicolas, I've seen an increase of the Peltier cooler workload while Dark frames were taken. Of course it depends how much you cool the camera. I'm running it at -30°C in the winter and -10°C in the summer. During winter, it's less a problem. But in the summer, if you want to run dark during the day, this mahy become a real problem as the ambiant temperature is much higher, meaning the Peltier will work much more and then, require the heatsink to evacuate more heat in the enclosed dust cap. Regards. |

Hi Frederic! It's a nice idea. I never use my asi2600mm or mc colder than -10 degrees. Do you notice a significant improvement in the noise? Congratulations on your idea.! Regards |

I don't cool to -30°C for the noise (there is almost no gain below -10°C). I cool to -30°C because the ambiant temperature is much colder than -10°C. So if I want a stable, regulated temperature, I need to go below -10°C. The coldest I ever did was -50°C because it was -36°C outside. Clear skies Nicolas ! |
