Does anyone know if it's possible to find primary cell and backplate for C11 edge telescopes? i was wondering if those are compatible with standard SCTs and if it would be possible to buy them as spare parts, maybe from celestron themselves - i would love to upgrade my plain SCT with a back plate that allows to lock the primary mirror in place.

Once I modded the back of a friend's C14 drilling a hole (well. 3) through the back, threading it to hold rubber tipped rod so that blocking the primary could be achieved. I guess the same can be done on a C11. And as far as I know they aren't available as spares from Celestron but who knows, things may have changed in recent years…

Have you searched for mirror locks? I once bought mirror locks for a C14 XLT that used the shipping screw holes for a locking mechanism. John |

John Hayes: Thanks Andrea and John - The telescope is remotely installed so mods are a bit tricky given the need for equipment and stuff. If i can get my hands on some damaged or 2nd hand C11 tho i could do it at home and then simply swap the back plate with the modded one. I asked Celestron and you are right, those parts arent available as spare, unfortunately. John, i read about those mirror locks for C14 some time ago - those were a great option but unfortunately, they were unavailable for C11 scopes at that time. Now i cannot find the ones for the C14 either, i think they arent being produced anymore |
