When i get pinpoint stars at the center of the field, i get such a poor covering of the stars in the corners, I am using a full frame sensor canon EOS R6. Imaging the Western Veil nebula for context. The image is a stack of 109 x 60 seconds, so there is a little star trailing, but inconsequential to the corners. Anything i can do to improve the image quality across the field with this reducer? Perhaps i thought the spacing between the camera and the reducer is too close rather than the camera with respect to the primary lens. Not sure. Help would be appreciated.  |

I suspect that you are right ... the spacing needs to be precisely 55mm from the mounting ring on the reducer to the sensor of the camera. I see wrong backfocus (sensor too close), out of focus overall and top to bottom sensor tilt. I would get correct center focus first, then add perhaps 1mm back focus and lastly work on tilt if any left. Brilliant, thank you, i thought this might be that case, makes perfect sense. |
