Just wondered …

For me, music and Formula 1 features quite highly so:

My wife and I attended an Adele concert in Hyde Park in London yesterday and

My daughter and I are going to the British F1 Grand Prix on Sunday … she supports Max Verstappen and I am a Hamilton fan

Although retired, I've always had something to do, especially since moving to a rural small property. Between the property and going back to Uni (Masters in Science (Astronomy). Currently, I'm between semesters so that gives me plenty of time for friends and especially my family. Music is part of everyday activities, especially when cutting the grass with the ride-on mower.  DIY Arduino projects, a bit of web design. Never a dull moment in my life, just would like to get a better ROI on my astrophotography gear. The weather has been sooo cloudy for the last few months, but one lives in hope!

My wife was so upset as she had tickets to that same concert but our whole family came down with Covid and she didn't go.

In my free time I like doing daytime photography. We live up by the Yorkshire Dales so no shortage of beautiful places to go. I've also just started getting into flying drones. Picked up a DJI Mini 2 and have had that out flying around getting some shots. Great fun!

and here is the kind of image I like to take at Formula 1 racing.  It's very different from our astrophotography stuff.  A fast enough exposure to keep it sharp, but still slow enough to give a sense of speed.  Also, the guiding is all done by hand ;)

I got into astrophotography a year or so ago. But when I'm not doing that I'm still working–my partner and I own a small boutique hotel in New Zealand, where I am also the chef–and I have long been an avid landscape photographer. And when I don't have the camera in front of my eyes I do a lot of cooking, and have dogs to play with and a new house we're working on building, and I like to read, and when possible I travel. But of course I no longer have the money for any of that because I got into astrophotography a year or so ago.

Great photo, Andy! What settings did you choose for it?
In a few days a classic car rally leads through my place. There I will try to make similar pictures. The cars are of course not so fast, but each carries history with it.

My hobby is collecting hobbies ;-)

Among other things I photograph birds, macro objects and portraits. I restore old straight razors and a little bit pocket watches. I also like to cook and draw. Everything much too rarely, because in between people have to work.

Summers here in Scandinavia doesn't allow for much AP but lends itself well for disc golf which I guess would be the answer to your question. It's a nice contrast to astro and gets me out of my chair. And best of all, it doesn't cost thousands of $$$.

I usually use about 1/400th sec for cars on the straight and 1/160th sec when they are are in the corners.  I aim to use as wide an aperture as I can so either alter the ISO setting to achieve that or neutral density filters if it's a very bright day.  I normally manually focus on the racing line prior to the cars coming past.

On my free time I try to dig in old surveys images archives like NEAT or SkyMapper, make photometry and astrometry. Sometimes and not very often I can find some really interesting and unique stuff there.
This is along with listening to music (electronic and dance mostly) or watching movies on another laptop.

I have a job at school, so I usually work. Astrophotography is more like a hobby for me, but I teach children astronomy at school, trying to make the lessons as interesting and memorable as possible. Often I come up with different knowledge tests, and the kids hate them. But sometimes I use flashcards for exam tests from https://edudriver.com/test-answers/abbreviations/, then they are really excited. I like it when children enjoy learning. And in my spare time I look for inspiration in the photos I find here.

I help take care of my mom (dialysis) and spend time with my boys if they want dad around 😆. I enjoy watching movies, but I do a lot of reprocessing to get better at it and work on my observatory as weather allows. I enjoy working on all types of astronomy equipment so if I find a nice project to revive a piece of equipment I’ll do that.

Oh and drool at all the astronomy equipment I want 😊
