Not the first time new data from the Webb telescope has supposedly overthrown everything we know. I would wait a bit with throwing away my telescope and grabbing the pitchfork and burning everything down with the local mob.

D. Jung:

And it most likely won't be the last.  I hardly think new thinking based on new evidence is equivalent to "burning everything down with the local mob".

I didn't come away from reading the article thinking that someone is trying to overthrow everything we know.   I prefer to think that the human tendency to fossilize knowledge keeps us from learning more--even if it means admitting we were wrong, or that our knowledge is incomplete.

As the physicist Richard Feymann said, "I'd rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned".

Interesting paper it talks about, but I would steer clear of any youtube channels that don't have their sources linked. (personally I like Dr Becky and Cool Worlds channels, both actual published astrophysicists) Seemed like the video dumbed down a lot of important information about the subject. And yeah, I mean this was kind of the whole point of Webb. It would be pretty boring if we peered into the depths of the universe we never could before and found nothing new. Astronomers are still, to an extent, working out the best ways to work with Webb's data as well. There are multiple instances of different research teams coming up with opposite conclusions from the same datasets. With more time and data we will find out what we are looking at and refine our theories (or make entirely new ones) to better match our observations.
