Looks like it's been removed, as I can longer link to it. However I did call him out for copying images.
Oh no it’s still here in plain sight no problem… I can see it

Thank you all guys! i am reported him to instagram. I guess i would be ok if someone would use my pictures while giving me credit for it, i maybe wouldn’t be ok but would not care if somebody would use it without any comment but using it while claiming it is his own work is a bad move from him/her. As i don’t want to spend more of my time on a thief, i will not further care about my image processing on his insta account. If instagram bans him, fine and if not i am still the first who uploaded it. cs andi |

Thanks Andi. I checked and he posted one of my AB images, passing it off as his own. I left a comment on his post and filed an infringement of copyright to instagram. This is serious, and may stop me using AB if others are going to download our images and simply crop off watermark. @Salvatore Iovene what can we do to better protect our IP? Brian |

Brian Boyle: Things you can do:
![]() ![]() ![]() What AstroBin doesn't offer is preventing the "Right click -> Save image..." because that doesn't really deter anyone except those who cannot use Google to figure out how to download the image anyway. A website that does that is almost insulting your intelligence by giving you a false sense of security: if your browser can display it, you can download it. There's no way around it until browser implement a standard for image protection natively. And even then, you can always take a screenshot: nobody will notice anyway on Instagram, where images are badly compressed anyway. |

Thanks @Salvatore Iovene It is very helpful, but I hate to think of restricting/spoling what my AB friends can see, because of a few cheats and frauds.

Brian Boyle: Yeah I’m with you on this. This is part of AstroBin’s mission: enable and encourage astrophotographers to share full size images accompanied by all technical details. It’s why I started it 13 years ago. For sure I can add some sort of cryptographic signature to images, or just add them to the blockchain as an NFT, and that would at least give proof of ownership. However it cannot stop people from passing it as their own outside of AstroBin, or screenshot it, post-process it slightly, and still try to pass it as their own 🤷♂️ I’m open to technical suggestions! |

Perhaps hidden watermarks within the public image could be a solution. Of course, someone can still find them and remove them but if it's a person who constantly steals images to upload them on social media as their "own", that person will probably not notice it as they are only focused on getting more followers etc.

Hi all, My 2 cents: IMHO putting a watermark right in the center is not a solution. We discuss individual pixels, or get obsessed about minor flaws, but then putting a watermark into the center of an image? This will destroy the complete image. Personally I skip those images. Unfortunately image copyright infringements are as old as the internet is. If you are afraid of, you should consider not to publish your images on any social platform or web page. You cannot not prevent it. You could keep the resolution low, but on the expense, that your images don’t get the attention they deserve. Additionally only showing them to logged in users is also quite useless. Any one can create an account and steel the hi-res. This is no mitigation of the risk. A solution could be an invisible watermark, a steganographic watermark and then strictly trigger the infringement processes if you get aware of it. With that steganographic watermark you can easily prove evidence that you are the owner and they are almost not removable. This could be a valid value add on for AB. I think all other approaches are either destructive, snake oil and/or technically impossible. CS Ruediger |

I've found a lot of other "stolen" images, found the original one (mostly from astrobin) and, on some the more recent ones on which comments are enabled, I've commented including the name of the owner and the link on the original image itself… One day I saw an image of the pleiads on a magazine advertising a new AUDI car… It seemed quite familiar to me and it really was! It was my image of the pleiads… They don't even asked me just 'cos I have never used watermark or pretended any copyright. That's all folks and that's today internet… |

Neverthless I think he can't remove my comments right? Anyway I've Just used Google Lens to find the original content and pubblish the link to the respective owner. The majority of the images comes straight from Astrobin. Like the narrowband one that belongs to Brian Boyle's here on Astrobin. I could'nt reach my comments nor the insta page of Conor anymore but if someone like should find the relative image owner and keep him adviced so He can make a report to Instagram eventually…

I've Just written to Brian Boyle's about his image. If He care about that and have an Istagram account, has the owner of the image, he could write down a report to be taken in account by Instagram.

Thanks Salvatore. I will be changing my full res viewing to paying member but also adding the full res images (I have been cropping them below useful print resolution). Most of my images are 30mp or more (sometimes much more) and I have been cropping to around 5mp. Not low enough to stop IG theft but to low to make prints.

Looks like it's been removed, as I can longer link to it. However I did call him out for copying images. So did I! Just messaged him about it. I don’t think he will even respond but if he does I’ll be sure to post screenshots of his reply. This is a scumbag for sure! I agree with the others comments, I’d be livid to say the least! We work hard to get what we get have in the end after processing our data and others take it! BS! I hope many others see this guy for the looser he really is. |

New to Astrobin, but he also took one of my videos of reddit. Instagram is completely incompetent, but the best chance of getting his page taken down is finding as many rightful copyright holders and make them file a complaint. With enough community or copyright violations, pages do get taken down. But it is mostly an automated system. |

Hello everyone The link of the picture taken has to be sent and also a link to your own post here or on Insta afterwards you can add comments because I described exactly when I took my picture and it also sent all the files from my PC and not just that all link. In both cases, my pictures got deleted really quickly from the sites where it was posted. |

Andi…..flattered or not, it was unethical, unprofessional and a just a s****y thing to do. I went through your images and you may want to go through all of them and add a copywrite or watermark to protect you hard work. Of course, that can probably be cropped out but at least by doing so, you may have some clout to threaten a law suit. All nice work, by the way!! CS Patrick |

Hello everyone! We run AstroCreditHunters on Instagram and we’re the ones that started exposing Conor Woods. If anyone recognizes their images on his page, please do not confront him before you report. We have a “pinned” guide on our Instagram for how to report these accounts. You have to report the post, not the overall account. Follow our guide and Instagram will remove the image from his account. If after you’ve reported the post you want to send him a message, feel free but he does just block anyone that does so. Please reach out if you need any help. We’ve been dealing with his account for a while now. Several images have been removed, but unfortunately his account is still growing over 10K. He bought a blue check mark as well. -3SistersAstronomy |
