Hello, a new collective amateur astrophotography project, called Overall Photons, was recently born, in order to share raw data on specific targets to reach hundreds or thousands of hours of integration: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61567710952836 After the first project on the Helix Nebula (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/VjFSrSJp2kkJfC6Q/) , we opened a call for the second project of Overall Photons on the Perseus galaxy cluster (Abell 426). Abell 426 is a challenging and little photographed target. The goal is to accumulate tens of hours of signal to highlight the dust, ionized hydrogen and the myriad of background galaxies. Here you can find the participation criteria and rules: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bmUrU5KnJUwDnzNrgDFCQaDF8r6UTzlJlKcA-8l_ciI/edit?usp=drive_link I hope you find this Project interesting and that you will participate sharing your data with Overall Photons team. Clear skies, Andrea |

Hello, In the participation criteria it mentions all contributors can process the final data and post to astrobin. Im curious if this is in line with the IOTD process? My understanding is that only 1 processed image should be submitted per collaboration on AB. |

C. Jonas Moiel: OP is a project where everyone is free to process the cumulative data as they wish and I don't know if this is against the Astrobin rules. I hope that Astrobin is in favor of individual freedom of processing and promotes it |

The IOTD rules mention how to post collaborative images here: https://welcome.astrobin.com/iotd#rules |

C. Jonas Moiel: I would avoid talking about AB's rules since the post was opened to promote the second project of Overall Photons. Do you want to participate in the Project? |

Thanks, I'm not sure. The first project by OP had individuals posting each processed version on AB which is not how collaborative images are suggested to be handled for the IOTD process. Its sort of an important question for some.

The most important thing is to work in a shared way and have fun. AB, apod, magazines, socials come later in my opinion |

C. Jonas Moiel: Yes, it seems the Helix Nebula project was submitted several times. The clarification is important, because submitting the same data multiple times to the IOTD process can have consequences: Failure to respect the rules above may incur in the removal of an image from the IOTD/TP selection process, in the stripping of its awards, or, in case of recidivism, a temporary or permanent ban in participating the IOTD/TP. AstroBin reserves the right to freely interpret the rules above where there is room for interpretations. AstroBin reserves the right to change the rules above in the future. Should that happen, you will be automatically prompted to accept them on AstroBin. (Source: https://welcome.astrobin.com/iotd#rules ) Possible participants should be aware of that. |

I is very early on a Sunday morning. No coffee yet, brain not fully functioning. I would like to participate and I have can start tonight. To keep me from doing the math. I have a Samyang 135, 420/385mm and 908mm focal length refractors. I have a 2600mmPro and a 1600mmPro with 3.75 and 3.8micron pixels. Will any of these combos work with you FOV requirements. If so, the answer is yes. CS Tim |

I will have to skip this round, Abell 426 is a northern hemisphere target… It would be cool to see what comes out, though! Good luck! |

Andrea Iorio: Your response to this question is odd. It does have to do with OP since your posting this on AB with rules that aren't in line with AB for IOTD. Bringing this to your attention should be considered a good thing. |

C. Jonas Moiel:Andrea Iorio: I am in a collaboration with that exact config with 1 single night of Ha to finish that commitment. This will be the next target and it looks like I can start it early this week. I have ZWO LRGB and 7nm SHO filters or I have an Astronomik MaxFR 6nm SHO and Deep-Sky LRGB. Which filter set would you prefer for this target? |

Andrea, Perfect the WO 132FLT/2600mmPro with be the OTA/camera. I have all the sub spec's from the project sheet. This will be my first group project. To date my collaborations have been with just myself and another imager for a 2 person effort. I look forward to being on the team… Peace and clear skies. Tim |

Andrea Iorio:C. Jonas Moiel:Andrea Iorio: This project will give the participants the final dataset and IP, So of course if 10 people have the same dataset IOTD rules come into play. I am sure there are rules for people who buy or download public data and post. I want to IP a monster dataset to see the results... I for one will simply not submit this image for IOTD consideration to avoid the drama. I cant get a vote on a 132hour dataset for IOTD on my own, but I wish all the rest of the participants success on any contest or evaluations of choice! CS Tim |

I don't think this is against the IOTD rules otherwise, how have so many people processed Telescope Live's M83 data and posted for IOTD? what's the difference between public data and collab data? no difference IMO. I'm a little too wide for acquisition (1.86"/px) but I can be an official post-processor for the group you can check out my gallery if you want see if I'm good enough for processing pre-processing is different, I'm not good for that, ESPECIALLY when there is a huge variation of pixel sizes, orientations and focal lengths between all the data if someone will share the prepared stacks (within the group), only then can I do my magic so what do you think? |

Tobiasz:C. Jonas Moiel: Dear @Tobiasz , dear C. Jonas Moiel: @C. Jonas Moiel , Thanks for pointing that out. At the time of deciding whether I would participate in the first project, which I did, I took the time to read the rules. I considered that this project (or at least my participation in it) falls exactly into the first exception clause that is foreseen by the rules : The following cases constitute exemptions to this rule:
Overall photon is not a stable team that goes beyond a single project. It is indeed an ad-hoc collaboration of non-related people. It is very different from team where member collaborate on a regular basis, or even share common gears. Of course, if my reading of the rules is mistaken, I would like to know it asap from Astrobin staff. @Andrea Iorio : I won't be a part of the next one, as this one noes neither match my interest nor my gear. Clear skies to everyone, Patrice |

Hello Andrea, Your project looks like a very nice initiative. I have never participated in a common project but I would be interested to, just to exchange with the others and to have fun. I am not sure if my equipment fits your criteria; it might be too wide field: OSC camera 571C sensor on 80/480mm APO or 150/750mm Newtonian. And there is also the constraint of the time and the weather (notoriously bad this part of the world). But in principle I would be interested. Clear skies |

Hello Andrea, Hello, Your equipment is perfect. I suggest to use 150/750 newton with 571 sensor. Clear skies 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 |
