Diffraction Limited is just that….limited. I have purchased 7 cameras from DL and what was previously established as SBIG.  SBIG before DL probably was the day of great cameras (at SBIG)  but at high prices, but they were worth it. My opinion is not so much anymore.  Cameras owned currently are the STL series 11000, 4020, STX, ME, autoguiders, SC and most recently the Aluma series.  My latest encounter proved to be my last with SBIG.  The flagship of DL/SBIG is the Aluma series and assuredly it holds up to well… nothing.  I was sent a dysfunctional camera that had shutter failure but was rectified after I diagnosed the problem and waited for SBIG support to resolve.  So that was it right?  No.  Immediately following was download imaging failures.  This is important.  Colin Haig at DL did his best to see if there was a computer issue as this was unusual.  Even remote accessing my computer, a Primaluce Eagle 4.  He ran diagnostic after diagnostic and that was impressive but in the end after acknowledging the computer was not failing and returning the camera it was determined that as they have gone "beyond", they have yet to deliver a camera to me.  I sit several thousands of dollars out of my pocket and no camera.  Sure, in the service industry it can be difficult, I know as an intensive care physician the expectations may not align with reality, but this is not life or death…it is a camera.  They would not replace the camera thus far.  So buyer beware is about it.  Consider purchasing from a vendor that will support you definitively.  DL/SBIG is probably a good company, I own many of the cameras, Maxim DL etc but this disservice is a testament and the last this client will encounter with DL/SBIG.

Interesting… Thanks for sharing. I didn't even know SBIG were still in the market.
