You probably have enough info by now but I have had the Radian triad filter for several years. Very expensive and no longer available I think because of the cost. I think it has produced great results in my bortle 8 city skies. I thought that filter was out of date so purchased the Antila Dualband Ha and Oiii 5nm a couple months ago. After using it, it is back in the box if you want to buy it. It was not cheap but the results with a 135 f2.8 and a williams 71 at f4.7 were not in the same ballpark as my Radian filter. I would look for a used one of those. |

Hi Clayton, Another Bortle 8 dweller with an OSC camera here. I use L'ultimate filter and have been quite happy with it. You can see my profile - most of them are from Bortle 8 areas using L'Ultimate. I have been quite happy with it. When I was researching filters, I had stumbled upon James Thompson's posts on cloudynights. @Rick Veregin has posted one article from his researchgate page; I would suggest seeing other posts too, where he has specifically compared some of the filters that are being discussed here. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/James-Thompson-32 https://www.researchgate.net/publication/364965907_L-uLtimate_Filter_Comparison_Test https://www.researchgate.net/publication/377356680_Testing_the_Ultra-Narrowband_Filters Hope this helps. Clear skies Rajat |

is there a best spot to place nb filters when using reducer/correctors to lessen halos?…closer to the camera ,or closer to the telescope?

It doesn't really matter but the further away you are the wider are the halos.

Thanks all, this post as convinced me to upgrade my l-eXtreme to the l-Ultimate as I shoot with a RedCat51 / ASI294MC in B9 and the halos are very noticeable. I don't mind them so much, but they do make things look a bit funky.
