Hi, Has anyone seen anything like this before, the "streak" under the California Nebula? It is there for all of my California subs throughout the whole night but not in the preceding subs for my other target, the Wizard Nebula, which I was also taking last night. I'll do some more testing tonight. Stellarvue SVX140T with Flattener ASI2600MC L-Ultimate filter (housed in an EFW) 600 second subs 100 gain Thank you! CS, Rob PS. Yes, I know I have some tilt.   |

A streak is usually an indicator of an off-side bright stars playing havoc with some part of the optical train, be it a flattener or a filter.

If you plate-solve it in astrometry.net you can see how it relates to nearby stars using the WWT function. Most likely there is bright star in the direction pointed by the steak itself although this is no guarantee.

I agree with the above. Look for a bright star in line with or, at 90 degrees to the spike.

I had the exact reflection on my cali nebula. its caused by the nearby star.
